The Town of Collingwood has a rich, architectural heritage, much of which has been preserved in one of Ontario's largest heritage districts. The Collingwood Heritage Conservation District(CHCD)encompasses
the town’s broad main street as well as many beautiful brick
homes adjacent to the downtown. Most of the town's historic buildings date from the 1870's to the early 1900's.
In 2004 the CHCD became the first heritage district in Canada to be
listed in the prestigious Canadian Register of Historic Places, which
notes that Hurontario Street, "is among the best preserved 19th century grand main streets in Ontario."
Collingwood is surrounded by beautiful natural heritage: from the
waters of Georgian Bay, Lighthouse Island, the Bruce Trail and the
Niagara Escarpment(a World Biosphere Reserve). As part of the
Niagara Escarpment, Blue Mountain lies just to the west of the town.
While Wasaga Beach, the worlds longest fresh water beach is just minutes to the east.
